Xp 3000 true Speed

  [DELETED] 15:36 07 Sep 2003

I've downloaded a program called AIDA32, its like sisoft sandra tells you your spec. I was just checking my processor and it says this: Manufacturer AMD
Version AMD Athlon(tm) XP
External Clock 166 MHz
Maximum Clock 3000 MHz
Current Clock 2166 MHz
Type Central Processor
Voltage 1.6 V

Why is it saying maximum clock 3000? yet i'ts only runing at 2166? Is it just saying what it can be Overclocked to? When i boot up and see the post it says 3000xp. The Cpu is Barton Core, i'm running Asus A7n8x deluxe Gold rev 2.0 Board.

All Athlons are rated below the actual chip name speed. I have an athlon 1700XP and that runs at 1466MHZ. There is nothing unusual in this so don't worry.

According to the AMD site provided by POPS not so long ago the 3000xp runs at 2167MHz on a 333fsb, voltage 1.65 volts.

thanks for the quick responce.
Is it just saying what the p4 equivalent would be to my processor?

No thats a misconception it is the equivalent of a Classic Athlon
Although the classic Athlon was equivalent to the Intel at the time.
