WPA2 key

In our office, we have a Netgear WG111 wireless adapter which connects one of our computers to the server.
The engineer who installed this put in a password (only viewable as asterisks) for connection.
We are trying to connect our mobile phones to the wireless LAN but when asked for the "Pre-shared key for WLAN" on our phones, the password we were given is not accepted.
We have checked with the engineer who assures us that the password he gave us is correct.
Is it possible to find what the asterisks signify or how we can connect.

The only way to find out what the PSK is, is to log into your router and have a look in there.

No way around it, sorry
