Word XP - TOC formatting anomoly

  Chris the Ancient 11:54 28 Mar 2010

Using Word XP on Win XP Home.

I'm currently working on a document which has some preliminary pages. These are followed by the text - into which I have inserted a Section Break with the section not 'same as previous'.

The footers in the prelim pages numbers have been set to i, ii, iii, iv etc. and the 'main' pages numbers have been set to 1, 2, 3, 4 etc.

So far so good.

I then created a TOC and it all picks up well.

However, within the TOC, the prelim pages page numbers are coming out in upper case I, II, III etc.

Is there a way of maintaining the lower case in that part of the TOC?

Forgive my ignorance - but what is a TOC?

It's the Table of Contents.

This is probably of little help but at work we have a Word template that behaves exactly as you describe. To my knowledge nobody ever found a fix (even when we had a largish IT team).

Sorry for the delay... By the time you wrote, I had had enough of working on my opus magnus for the day and was taking an evening off.

Well, at least I'm not the only one that's been stumped!
