Word XP Security

Hi all,

I need a document I can save in word, that will not allow anyone to edit or even copy it, but they can view it. Basically so they can't pass a copy off as their own.

Anyone know how to do this effectively?

Tools/Protect document. Tick "Forms" and enter a password.

There are cracks available for those determined enough.

A more secure method is to convert to a .pdf file if you have the software to do it.

Should be in the Tools menu. Unfortunately I'm at a puter with Word 97 at the mo, but it should be similar in Word 2002.

Try typing protect in the help box.

Click "Tools" at the top of the screen.

Click on the double arrow at the bottom off the menu as the "Protect Document" section is usually not displayed automatically.

Select "Protect Document"

Click on "Forms"

If the "Sections" button is highlighted with a BLACK font, click on it and ensure that ALL sections are ticked, and click "OK".

Type a password (preferable using a combination of UPPERCASE LETTERS, lowercase letters and numbers as this makes it harder to "crack".

Click on "OK".
