Wirless Antenna

  Winxx 20:33 01 Jan 2007

Hi, im not getting a very good pickup on wireless connections around me, if i was to buy an antenna, would that boost the signal, since when im connected to my wireless downstairs it has low or very low.

I was just wondering if these things actually work, and how much so do they work?

You need to determine whether there is a good signal nearby and your computer is in a bad spot or whether there is a poor signal generally. I know it can be frustrating I had to buy a hot spot detector and once I found the signal I bought a panel antenna on an extension. Get an excellent signal now. Wireless can be trial and error sometimes. Trouble is the gadget cost money, this is an example:

does the adapter connect via usb or internal PCI because an intenal PCI card has its antenna right next to the interference of the computer itself USB adapters can come with extension wires.

Haven't tried myself, but it could be worth a go at your own risk (although I can't see anything that bad happening

But as i say try at own risk

Thought I'd let you know :)
