wireless router connection problem.please help!

  carltheplasterer 22:50 22 Dec 2007

i have purchased a netgear DG834GT wireless router with the intention of just having it connected to my desktop via the ethernet cable and wireless to my laptop.
i followed all the set-up instuctions but when it comes to try to access the internet,i can't and i don't know why.
i have also had the same problem when trying to connect from my laptop.
anyone have any ideas what might be the problem/s i am having?
many thanks.

Are you saying that you have been into the Setup Page of the Router and entered you User and Password details? If you have done the Above you have to first save then switch the router power off for five minutes, then back on

Are you sure you have inputed your user-name and password correctly?

Has the router got a green light for the Broad band connection and a green light for your Ethernet connection?

Do not try to use Encryption, until you get it to connect. Also first use a Ethernet Wire to establish your connection
