wireless networked pair- one drops connection

  jack 20:14 11 Aug 2008

A Desk top machine connected top Internet via a wireless router -Modem Router - Desktop.

In the next room a notebook connected wirelessly via a USB dongle
Both connect to Broadband each to its own account- though same ISP- but after a time the 'primary' computer will drop the connection.
The ISP{NTLWorld] suggests it is a router problem but as they are about to send a third router and meanwhile the owner has invested in a Belkin- the same problem remains -
Two on line for a while then the ' primary machine drops off whilst the distant laptop keeps on going.
Any ideas?

MS has recently introduced a security upgrade which can cause ZoneAlarm users to drop connection.
Post in the Networking Forum for better response.

Not that in this case ZA is a factor
The machines in question are not ZA users
Have noted it for my next visit as it may be a factor in what security these machine have in stalled.

The lappie has Paid for Norton- which alone made the machine Veeeery slooow
am persuading the owner to dump it but as his subscription has 6 month to run - he is loathe
He will see the the light I am sure- eventually
