I have a D-Link wireless router connected to my dell laptop. How do I get a security code on to it so nobody else in the neighbourhood can connect to it. Many Thanks Alex Gray (alexgrau104)

we'll move this from the helproom to Networking. Then we'll provide the answer.

If your router is connected to the laptop via an ethernet cable, and disconnected from the ADSL phone line. Then do this:-

Launch Internet Explorer.

Type this after the http:// in the address bar:- and press the enter key

Now type: admin into the username field, and leave the passweord field blank. Press the enter key or click on OK

That will takeyou into the configuration pages for your router. Look for the WEP encryption section and follow the prompts. MAKE SURE that you write your chosen key down and keep it in a safe place.
