Wireless mouse frozen on start -up

My Trust wireless mouse pointer sometimes does not move when the pc has booted up.
I've replaced the batteries and the mouse is only 10' or so from the receiver.
Pressing the buttons on the top of the receiver and underside of the mouse re-establishes the link, but it is just a nuisance when the pointer will not move.
I'm using XP home on my pc
Any ideas gratefully received

Thank you : ))

Is that 10ins or 10ft? Like 10' is for feet, that’s a long way for it to work. How do you see the text with binoculars?

Have you loaded the drivers for the Mouse or are you using the Windows ones? in ether case try the Driver for the Mouse, or Remove them and also Remove the Mouse from Device Manager and reboot comp. You will have to use keybord to shut windows down after removal from Add Remove so it loads a Windows Driver
