Wireless Help Please.

Got BT Wireless Home Hub today. Ethernet connection to main Dell PC, online, fine. Trying to get daughter's laptop online. Found the BT hub and asked for hub key. We entered this and it says it's online and signal "excellent" but no web pages will come up. Why please?

If the laptop is on Vista, try disabling the IPv6, then try it....

Control Panel > Network & Sharing Centre > Manage Network Connections > Right Click on Wireless > Properties > Untick IPv6.

Yeah it's on Vista, will just try that and get back, thanks.

She can't find IPv6 but there's Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Is that the same? She says it won't untick though.

None of those will untick. OMG am STRESSED now. HELP PLEASE!!!

  RicScott 17:04 06 Sep 2007

De-stress...Nothing to stress about...IPv6 is the Internet Protocol part of the TCP/IP...

I'll walk you through it all...Hold on a mo

Start > Control Panel > Classic View > Network and Sharing centre.
On the left..Manage Network Connections > Right Click on the wireless option under
LAN or high speed Internet > Properties >
Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) is there..Untick it.
Make sure that the IPv4 is ticked..

She's clicked start, control panel and switch to classic view. Is that right? She can't see network and sharing centre though.

It WON'T UNTICK THOUGH. GRRR. None there will.
