WinZip problem

  Dirty Dick 13:44 14 Jun 2010

I am constructing a website for a friend using Serif WebPlus X2. I publish the file (.wpp) to a folder on my laptop, and it is 6.26 Mb.
Then I try to e-mail it, by zipping it, to my friend so he can upload it to the domain. However when the folder is zipped and it is attached to an e-mail (using MS Outlook) it jumps up to a staggering 12 Mb !!!

I thought that zipping was supposed to compress the folder, to make it smaller?

Can anyone suggest where I am going wrong?

Many thanx

In the past i have heard & experienced that winzip does or can corrupt files. I have had greater success using this software called 7zip>> click here

Yes you can upload to any domain using an FTP client. I sometimes use Filezilla or Microsoft expressions 3 with front page extensions & works very well. Emailing big files may be capped by your ISP of course.
