winxp comp not booting - viruses

  coolteentom 10:39 09 Mar 2006

I have a Windows XP HE computer. However, recently some trojan viruses managed to get into the system, which Norton found, but could not delete.

A few days later, the system stopped booting properly, and began asking me for a 'Boot Diskette A'. I have a T-Clone OEM Disk, which I enter. When I put the disk in, it loads up, and then either comes up with 'Unable to redefine max address' or 'Unable to commicate with ATA Controller'.

Has anyone got any ideas of how to sort this out?

Thanks in advance,

If the ATA controller is the problem then you could try reinstalling the motherboard drivers.
