WinodozeXP - riniging the changes

  jack 10:17 31 Jan 2006

I have a variety of drives on the desktop ranging from 2 external HDD to 2 optical and those associated with a multicard reader.
This morning Windoze has decided it did not like the arrangement and has swapped the I/Dletters around-
'F' is now K - 'E' has moved to 'L' and so on
It has taken 30 minutes or so to sort out what has gone where.
Why did it do it?
Is it an indicator that something is amiss?

if for some reason a drive's configuration had changed in some way, or if a mirror drive had been removed, or corrupted.

Does any of that apply in your case?

Thank you FE
Possibly- Yesterday the 2gig WinXP backup caddy was getting noisy so I took it out to lub its fan- but this was before start-up, so I wouldn't think Windoze knew about it-Perhaps it felt it in its sleep!
All is well now ,so long as I can remember what has gone where.
