Have you set Windows Update to automatic, the new definitions come as part of Windows updates.

Yes windows updates are set, but cannot update the new windows defender program that replace microsoft antispyware

Tools - general Settings - tick check for updates before scanning.

click on the down arrow next to the question mark
select -About windows defender - and click Check for Updates.

I am also having problems with this update.

When I click 'Check On Updates' I get the ballooon saying that 'Windows Defender is connecting to the internet to obtain new definitions and engine upgrades'. This is then followed by the following error message:

'Windows Defender was unable to complete the update ox80240022. The wrong diskette is in the drive. Insert %2(Volume Serial Number: %3) into drive %1.'

Does anyone else receive this error message?

Any ideas?

Angry ;)

The only thing I can think of is that I uninstalled MS antispyware prior to downloading Defender.
Maybe if you uninstalled and reinstall Defender might help.

Click on tools-software explorer and see what is allowed. Also check firewall settings.
