Windows XP shutting down

When I am shutting down my computer Windows XP shows," windows now shutting down", and then restarts the computer.I have to switch off the computer manually. It used to do that itself.

When I press the 'Turn Off Computer' button.

I get a second box giving me three options Stand By, Turn Off or Restart

make sure all your drivers(graphics card and motherboard etc) are bang up to date.

update windows too. click here

also click

start/control panel/performance and maintenance/system/advanced/start up and recovery/settings

untick "automaticaly restart"

next time it does this it will throw up an error screen (write this down exactly as is)

this will tell you what caused the problem
