Windows XP and "Network Cable Uplugged"?

  Rogmur 23:53 16 Nov 2003

Hello to all Forum Members

I have two icon in my system tray called "LAN and LAN2", and they both have a red X mark on them which means they are unplugged.
But I do not have a network cable plugged into my PC any way as I do not use a network.
Can I safely "right-click" and remove these icons with out causing any problems to my PC?
I am still using the old "slow band dial up" and not ADSL (unfortunately)
Thanking you in advance

The reason they appear with a red cross is BECAUSE you don't have any network cables plugged in.

If you don't use them, you can disable them in your hardware profile - then they won't appear at all.

untick the "show icon in notification area when connected"box
