Firstly, apologies for what me be the most dumb question of the day.I have had to reinstall Win XP following a HDD failure. Win XP is installed, but the My Computer icon does not appear anywhere - how do I get this onto the desktop?
Not dumb at all!Click on the start button and you will see the "My Computer" Icon in the right pane. Right click on it and from the drop down menu, click on "Show on Desktop". j.
right click the desktop properties, desktop, customise desktop general tab
That is certainly a lot easier!!
I only found that method by being nosey and clicking on everything in sight when I first installed XP. :o)
drag the my computer icon right off the screen in any direction to create a handy toolbar.right click a blank bit of the toolbar and tick "auto hide"move your mouse to it and it will appear.delete your my computer icon on the desktop.i find this is handy and reduces clutter.
