Windows XP will not go beyond the loading page despite all efforts.

Computer 2 months old. Mesh phone line help useless.

Any body know anything?

Have you tried booting into safe mode by pressing f8 during boot up and then doing a system restore.

still no start up

  crimbo 17:23 10 Jul 2003

If you have an XP disc you could try reinstalling over the top of your current installation, but if it's a restore disc, i have no experience of these. What advice did Mesh give you?

Do you get any error message or does it just stop?

  asilvey 17:33 10 Jul 2003

It just stops. The loading bar just frezzes.

Could be software have you installed anythink??
i say this as it is a new computer, looks like you will have todo a full recovery as you can't get past start up your unable to view the event log to give you a clue as to why you can't boot up.

my laptop sometimes does exactly the same thing.

if i do a forced reboot i can choose "last known

good configuration" from the menu and it starts ok

not ideal but next step i think i'll do is to

boot from cd and re-install XP on top of current

installation as suggested by crimbo.

Thanks All, but I still cannot get the thing started.
How do you suggest. In simple terms please.
