Have upgraded to Windows XP Home Edition and it works fine but have lost password protection that I had in Windows 98SE which stopped my children loggin in to my files.
Can I get it back & how?

Have you got individual accounts, like one for your kids and one for you?

Or set other peoples (eg, kids) to have limited accounts then click dont share files!

I have separate login pictures on the login screen but just clicking on them gives access to any or anyone. Presume these are the separate accounts you mention.

Start, Run, type in

control userpasswords2

and click OK

On the users tab, check whether "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer" is ticked.

Have resolved the problem by going into Control Panel/User Accounts and setting up Passwords.
Now happy user!!

Or change the account properties in Control Panel/User accounts.

To have passwords for user accounts you must be using NTFS.
