At somepoint over the Christmas period, I have managed to delete these files. Can somebody advise on how to restore them?ian
What makes you think that you've deleted them? Error messages? Help and Support window blank or ... ?
assuming you have the xp cd handyfind c:\windows\inf\pchealth.inf right click and choose install.if your problem is that help and support does not work:try start/run and type: helpctr -regserver (return)
VoG.I keep getting "Cannot display the page" messages when ever i try to find something out.ian
Try mrdsgs suggestions to repair.
Have just finished trying mrdsgs suggestions. Still no luck.ian
Try System File Checker: Start, Run, Type inSFC /SCANNOWand click OK. Have your Windows CD to hand.
Still no luck.Because of an 4.00am alarm call, i'm calling it aday for now. I will look in again lunch time tomorrow.i
but you could do a repair of XP. Boot from the CD. Let the Setup go through the first part of the Installation procedure. When you come to the screen in which it says "Welcome to Setup." press Enter to Setup Windows XP. Press F8 to agree to the End User License. Let the Setup search your system for previous versions of Windows. When the Setup is finished searching your system, select your Windows XP Installation and press the R key on your keyboard to start the Repair Procedure. Setup will delete all major system files and then replace them with new copies. You will have to download all of the updates from Microsoft Windows Update again because it replaces the files. ... unless anybody knows a specific fix for this problem, of course.
VoG you are a gentleman...... Your "drastic" measure has worked a treat. I am indebted to you. Many thanks.I'm of to update WindowsXP.ian
System Restore worked for me. :-)
