how do I get rid of the annoying text boxes whenever the cursor is close to an icon ? I believe it is called autohelp but I don't know how to disactive it.
They are called ToolTips but I don't know how to turn them off or whether it is possible.
It is possible click here Number 13.Personally, I like them but each to their own.
create a system restore pointclick start/run type "regedit" click okclick "my computer" top left then "file" then "export"this will back up the registry, save it somewher like the desktop for safe keeping.next navigate toHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\microsoft\windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\advanced in the right pane right click and select "new" "DWORD value"call it "EnableBalloonTips" and give it a value of "0"if you already have the entry just click it and set the value of "1" to "0" to disable it
ps restart the computer afterwards.
VoG link gives both balloontip and tooltip removal instructions.two different things
Yep, not clear whether we are talking ToolTips or BaloonTips (No 10 on my link covers the latter).
I like the one that says "Click here to Begin".
go to click here you you can download a visual basic script file that will disable these balloon tips
