i have windows xp on my machine and recently a message appears on boot up saying, " can't run 16 bit windows programme, insufficient memory to run this application. Quit one or more windows applications and then try again" once i click ok the message disappears. there are no programmes running when message first appears - how do i get rid of this message.

this could be a problem with virtual memory, click on control panel-system-advanced-performance settings, and tick off let windows choose settings for my computer.
