Does anybody know why I keep being promted for an update for Windows XP service pack 111, when I am running Vista home premium?

Prompted how?

There is no such thing as XP service pack 111.

Sounds possibly like malware to me

Sorry I meant Office XP sevice pack 111, which is included in a list of updates. When I click on it, I'm informed after a few minutes that installation failed.

No such thing as Office XP service pack 111 - or do you mean service pack 3 (which does exist)?

Yes 3, I don't know why I used Roman numerals, sorry for the confusion

OK. Launch an Office application (Word will do).

Go to Help; About Microsoft Word.

That'll tell you if you have SP3 installed or not.

If not, install it

Do you even have Office XP ?

  dobber 1 17:01 13 Feb 2008

Good question Pamy, I've no idea. I just found it strange that I keep being pestered by windows update to update this item, then it tells me it can't do it when I try.

The update may be available, but if you do not have Office XP then it cannot install

Office XP is the version released in 2002. SP3 is an update for MS Office 2003. Although issued last October. MS is to push it's installation for those who have not updated.

Acording to "about microsoft word" I have MS Word 2002.
Thanks to everybody for their help, but my heads hurting now, so I'll just have to ignore the requests.
