Windows Task Manager

Anyone out there could help with this one. Whats happened to my desktop Windows Task manager (WTM), When i press Ctrl and Alt and Delete key, the WTM comes up but the Buttons and sub sections on the WTM are no where to be seen. I can end a program that is running if its taking to long to close.

But i cant switch of the WTM since the red X buttonn has disappeared, and the minimise and maxmise buttons and sub sections like procosses etc arent no where to be found. I be grateful if you can help in what i should do, do i do a windows xp home repair or a system restore, or is there anything else i can do to resolve this windows issue.

It is running in "small footprint mode". Double click anywhere on its border to return it to the full tabbed version.

its gone back to being a normal Windos Task Manager.
