Hi

How do I turn it off? When I click on turn off, it tells me it will affect all sorts of settings so am concerned if I do.

Is it safe to turn off - using Outlook (not express)?

Thanks in anticipation of a successful close of an infuriating program - it did not even ask if I wanted it installed or not!!!

Control Panel - Add/Remove software - Add/Remove Windows Componants. UnTick MSN Messenger. When you want it back reverse the proceedure.

Click on it to open it, click Tools, then options and uncheck the box next to "Run from start up".

thanks - thats a relief

I have the same problem, i don't want to uninstall messenger, just don't want it to start up automatically. i've unchecked the box next to "Run from start up", but it still runs. i'm used to workig with ME and disabling in msconfig, but don't seem to be able to do it in XP...... am i becoming blonde?
