windows messenger

windows xp service pk2, windows messanger has suddenly apeared on my taskbar,its a black square and when i hover my mouse over it, it says windows messenger - not signed in,i donot and have never used this program so why is it there, thanks

goto control pannel, admin tools, services,scroll down to messenger click it in the start up type dropdownbox click disable then apply then ok . that will turn it of and it wont start at the next time you boot pc

i did that but it says that it is already disabled

i have just noticed that there is 2 of these on my taskbar one being the black sqaure and the other is like two persons in green,the latter one has always been there

in windows nessanger in the tools part un tick allw messenger to run at start up and the run in the back ground on to then ok then reboot pc

jackcoms, have been into msconfig and cant seem to see it,does it come under another name or has it been shortened
