Windows Messenger

Is anyone else having problems? I have a hotmail account which I use when I have to give an e-mail address to people I don't know. Over the last couple of days Messenger has been eratic. Sometimes it appears when I start the computer and sometimes it doesn't.
I could do a System Restore but don't want to do that if the problem lies elsewhere.

Most people remove windows messenger and switch to MSN Messenger instead. This is often due to WM being used by advertisers to send you popups. The most effective method I use is "Start/Run box,and copy/paste this (minus quotes) " RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove "If you actually mean MSN Messenger, since I upgraded to version 6.2 I have never had any trouble with it.

Seems to be back and working OK. It just says Windows Messenger Version 4.7 (4.7.2009) under properties. It just came as part of XP home as far as I can remember.
