Windows Media Player in Vista

  axelbrora 23:21 03 Sep 2008

I have just upgraded to Vista and cannot find a way to play simple MPGs, AVIs etc.

I have setup the media center with all the bells and whistles, that I do not need, and cannot see the Windows Media Player.

I downloaded "Media Player 11 for Vista" and when I tried to install it I got the message that it was not a suitable upgrade for my system.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for that.

Some basic questions that perhaps someone can answer:

1. Does Media Player 11 come packaged with Vista and I simply have not found it?

2. Do you need to download it separately from Microsoft? I have already tried that and it would not install, see top post.

I have Vista Ultimate, Windows Media Player 11 was already there after Vista had been installed.
