Use system restore you can not uninstall WMP10 or if that fails it will be a full reinstall that will give you WMP8 then SP2 will give you WMP9

uninstall of media 10 via add/remove will return verion 9 of player.

I have done the add/Remove but when I try to install version 9 it says there is a newer version and set up will close.

Well i am running WMP10 and it does not show up in add and remove and the only way is by system restore infact it warns you if you upgrade from
WMP8 TO 9 so i don't see WMP10 being any different
as WMP is part of your OS.

Just info,-----if you tick the show-updates box in WINXP add/remove programs (Top Right) you will see Media player etc.

Interesting thread. I recently opted to upgrade to 10 recently but didnt like it. Just got rid of it through add/remove and there was 9 again. Just didnt prefer the new version over the old one.

If you are on XP, go to Add/Remove and in the right hand column you will see Add or Remove Windows Components, click that then untick Windows Media player and click next. If you want to put your old MP back you will need your XP disc. Do exactly the same but put a tick in Windows Media Player box, put you XP disc in and click next. It should install the original MP

I think if you have added updates for wmp 10 it wont let you revert back to wmp 9 click here
may help may not.

I wouldnt use WMP 9, it causes a lot of problems, like ACOLYTE says you may not be able to go back to WMP 9, WMP 10 is the best, I have it and have had no problems since I upgraded from WMP 9, and yes WMP 9 comes with if you want WMP 8, you have to reinstall Win XP...
