Download it from click here

I'm a bit suspicious of the e-mail and if I were you I would delete it. Microsoft normally do not send e-mails of the type you describe.

it was an official email it was full html and the link went to the download page on the microsoft website it was the media player newsletter.

do you think i should download the (us english) version or wait for the uk one ?

I think the reason for US and UK having different versions is because it now has inbuilt MP3 stores, so maybe with US version you'll get $ which is not much use if you're in the UK and using £.

I don't know what else the difference may be, if you don't plan to download music, it should be alright for you to download the US version.

You could always download it, but make a restore point before you load it. Then if you don't like it you can get back to the old version.
