Windows ME won't boot

While attempting to remove clutter from an old laptop running Windows ME I've done something wrong.

I've got a blue screen telling me that I have a "Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer. System halted."

"Error: 03:0167:00000001"

Re-starting the computer doesn't help and it won't start in Safe Mode either.

I have no disks at all for the laptop.

I only use the laptop to watch DVDs.

Thanks for any help. I'm a novice with this stuff.

Thanks again!

Sorry... I actually have the laptop's Recovery Disk but I don't know what to do with it.

Put the disc into the drive and then re-boot your computer. With a little bit of luck you may then be given options to repair/reboot.

If not joy, try again in Safe mode, I think repeatedly tapping F5 on boot-up gets you into safe mode.

Make/model of lappie might help also.

Thanks Technotiger.

I switched laptop off, inserted recovery disk and switched on again but I only get a Windows ME logo on the screen before it reverts to the original error message.

The laptop is a Hi-Grade Notino 7200.
