Every day a gold shield appears l h corner of PC informing me that a download is waiting installation.
Does any one else get these updates as frequently?

No,i would have thought they come with MS updates every month.

You can't actually "use" the Windows Malicious Software removal tool.

It is updated every month and is part of Microsoft's 'Patch Tuesday' downloads.

It then runs in the background without requiring/needing any user intervention.

What daily download is actually waiting to be installed?

Click the yellow shield and have a look.

Thanks for comment
The yellow shield says installation of down loads for windows malicious soft ware removal tool and these then appear on windows update review
I do run it daily May be I should not.

What do you mean by "windows update review"?

"I do run it daily" - do you mean you actually install these updates and then re-boot the PC?

You can use it. I download it manually when it's time every month. Then run it anytime. Usually weekly.

Hello Jackcoms
If I go to 'windows update'and click on 'review windows update' it details the frequency of the 'windows malicious ' updates and as I say apart from the normal monthly updates I am invited by the yellow shield to install the updates more or less on a daily basis.
I run it as mentioned by'Allyginger' but perhaps a little more frequently

Sorry. This one's got me stumped.

It should come just once a month on 'Patch Tuesday'.

Perhaps other members will know why you're getting it daily.

If you decide to download the updates, the icon shouldn't reappear.

If you only check the updates and don't download them you should get a message panel about Don't Show This Message Again.

You can choose to stop the downloads listing(s) in icon form being repeated by checking the box.

Thanks Jackcoms and Stuarti,
I think you have the solution.
I will try and come back if necessary ,but I think you have it nailed and I will post resolved

Like the others I was under the impression that this only ran once a month but it appears that there are two versions.

The one that we were thinking of and one that you can manually dowload.

The latter seems to have fairly frequent updates click here

This could be the cause of the confusion.
