Windows Mail has started showing my account password on the screen when I'm in Mail. That's a worrying breech in security & should not happen. Can anyone advise.

"Windows Mail" is the name of Vista's desktop email client. Is that what you mean or are you referring to the Windows 10 "Mail" app?

Let me know too where exactly on the screen your password is appearing.

I'm using the Windows 10 Mail app. Previously, my password appeared at the notification box. The latest appearance of my password has been with Mail and with the In Box title.

Thanks for the info.

It sounds like you've inadvertently entered your password in the wrong section of the mail options. Try this:

Click the little cog icon bottom left, choose "Manage Accounts" then click on your mail account. Does your password appear in the "Account name" section at the top? If it does then change it to something descriptive. You can call it anything you like. Click on "Save" when you're done.

Many thanks Secret-Squirrel. I've done that so I think all should be fine now
