windows logon dialog box

please help.
i know this is an old chestnut but i have forgotten the cure.
how do you get rid of the windows logon dialog box that has just started to appear on startup?
i dont want to have a logon name and password every time i switch on

sorry tried that, only created a new type of logon
request. suppose i will have to lump it as usual
and keep logging on.

In 98 it's Control Panel - Passwords - Change Windows password. Enter your old password in the first box and leave the other two blank.
