Windows Live messenger

Windows XP Home: I never use Messenger and find the extra wait for it to load after boot up an irritation. Can I (a) remove it from the startup menu or (b) uninstall it altogether, or is it an essential part of the XP system I have to live with.

If you don.t use it or its e-mail service remove it from add remove.
To stop it from starting up go to messenger,Tools.options.Untick automatically run messenger when I log on.
And make sure Automatic sign is is unticked .Apply Ok with both.
