Windows installer error 1635

  Lemur 23:06 12 Jan 2006

I am on XP. Suddenly work in my Word facility will not save. I get error messages including "The disk is full or too many files are open" - on my "C" drive I have 12.6 GB Free Space and only one file is open! I also get "Microsoft Word needs a converter to display this file correctly. This feature is not currently installed. Would you like to install it now?" "YES". I then get error message "Microsoft Word cannot install the necessary files due to Windows installer error 1635". All this coincides with the fact that all my restore points have disappeared, so I am unable to restore to an earlier date! HELP PLEASE.

Thanks for your kind help. I seem to have cracked it - my computer year date somehow became 2099??! Now reset and all seems to be well, hopefully.
