Windows Genuine Advantage

  griffo 11:13 25 Feb 2007

I have the dreaded blue star on my taskbar and a notification saying my copy of Windows (XP Pro) isn't genuine but - IT IS!

XP Pro was installed on the machine when I bought it, I have the CD and the certificate. What is Microsoft playing at???

Can anyone please tell me how to rectify this nonsense?

Thanks both.

I went to the Microsoft site and ran the diagnostics - all seemed fine (so it should be!).

I then rebooted and it told me again that it was counterfeit and offered a 'Get Genuine' button, so I clicked that and nothing seemed to happen.

So, I rebooted again and the Counterfeit warning has gone! I guess (for now) that the problem is solved.

thanks again.
