Windows File Protection

Weirdly, WindowsXP Pro has kicked out this message..

..."Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain stability. Windows must restore the original versions of these files."

Insert your WindowsXP Professional Service Pack 1 CD now.

SP1 isn't installed on the system anyway.
DirectX9c wouldn't install either.

Plus the CPU (AthlonXP 1700+) is stating as 1.2GHz upon boot up.

Have you tried putting in the CD as it asks?

As for the processor it may have something to do with the correct settings but I am never too sure about what to do there.

Something has caused XP to throw a wobbler. Could it be the attempt to install DirectX9c? To view what version XP you have, click Start, right click My Computer, Properties.

run the system file checker to replace the correct files.

click on start, run and in the box type: sfc /scannow and then hit ok.

make sure you have your cd to hand.
