Windows Explorer shortcuts stop working

  [DELETED] 18:58 06 Mar 2006

The windows explorer shortcuts on my desktop, task bar and start menu normally work OK but occassionally they stop working for no apparant reason.
Rebooting rectifies the problem but when Windows is shutting down an ending progamme message refering to "Proxy Desktop" is displayed.
This only appears after the shotcut failures.
I assume that the shortcuts may be being nullified by another programme which has been used.
Can anyone offer any ideas what may be causing this?

I have exactly the same problem but have deduced that it only happens after the machine has been alowed to go in to hibernation.
The quick answer is to stop hibernation.
I have searched microsoft and various forums without any sign of an answer.
Hope someone can come up with something

I think this may be connected to your desktop/visual settings, have you tried reseting them all to the xp default visual theme's and folder settings?
