Windows Defender

Is Defender part of my Windows 7 software ?
Cannot find it within Control Panel or Revo but it appears to be running and I would like to uninstall - I have Microsoft Security Essentials loaded which seems to work very well. I can open the programme but cannot see any way of actioning uninstall.

If you disable it MSE might stop running. If so enable it again.

I have run defender as a real time scanner on my XP system for many years.
Its backed up by superantispyware and malwarebytes neither of which find anything when I scan, therefore I assume defender is doing its job.

On install MSE disables Windows Defender which I am certain is not done by accident so best leave well alone

Windows Defender and MSE,

Have re-installed MSE and now when I click Defender message box indicated that Defender is not running so OK now. However still cannot find Defender in Control Panel or with Revo Uninstaller despite what the article on MSE says about uninstalling in the click link that 'mooly' highlighted.
Thanks anyway to all your responses much appreciated Happy 2010.

I think it's only XP where it can be uninstalled, as it was an additional program. Vista and 7 have it as part of the OS so it's not possible to uninstall as a separate item.
