i have a toshiba satellite pro 400ce...can i conect an external modem to it i havent got a usb port

if using a nic then should not be a problem i think.

click here (very out of date) so check the specs on the modem you are purchasing.

It should have a serial port, and you should be able to find an external modem with a serial connection easily.

A NIC is a network port - different thing altogether.

You can also get PCMCIA modems; around £30 or so which should do the trick for you. Handier than messing around with the necessary cables for a serial modem.

You could also look for a PCCard modem (PCMCIA card). This fits in the card slot in the side.

[email protected]@m - it will all depend on the browser you use. I used Win3.1, Netscape 3 and Pegasus mail for a long time on an old 386 processor running at 25Mhz.

Mind you, it did have 8Mb of RAM :-}
