  yorky925 20:37 16 May 2010

I have just purchased a new pc with Windows 7 62 bit but I now find I can no longer use my Epson perfection 1250 scanner, I've followed the windows trouble shooter to the site for downloading Driver updates but still no joy. I did download Twain 5 but still scanner wont work.
Any sugestions please

Where did you download your drivers from ? - here is the Manufacturers website -

The page shown lists 32 bit drivers for Vista but does not list any drivers for Windows 7 -64 bit. Perhaps they do not support 64 bit.

I have been to manufacturers site and as Chub says no solution there. Any other sugestions please.

You will probably find that Vista drivers will work for you - no harm in trying. I have Vista drivers installed for my Canon scanner which work fine on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

Thanks for sugestion northhumbtia61 but, I have already tried the vista drives and they are not recognised by my PC. So still looking for a solution if there is one, I dont want to have to buy a new scanner.

May I suggest yo go to Device Manager - Imaging Devices - Right Click on your scanner and uninstall - unplug your scanner power lead and USB cable - reboot your PC - connect your scanner again - first the power cable then the USB cable and let windows search for drivers.

I shall follow this with more than normal interest - because i failed to get mine working - no 64 bit driver.
I use an xp set up ,to scan, and then transfer the scans to the 64 bit pc.

woody - I had a problem at first and I installed it via Windows Virtual PC - I then found that when I started up in Windows 7 my scanner was listed in Devices & Printers and has worked flawlessly ever since.

Download the XP drivers from the Epson website.
Right click on the Epson driver installer and click on Troubleshoot compatability.
Select XPsp3 and install.
Do likewise with any related scanner software.
Worked for me with enabling CD printing under Win7 with my Epson R300 printer.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately having tried them, it appears that Epson have only made the 32 bit version of windows 7 compatible with the Epson Perfection 1250 scanner to date.
Looks as though I will have to wait and see if they add the 62 bit version at a later date.

Thanks for your suggestions though.
