Toshiba Satellite L505D-GS6000 Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1

Got the alureon virus somehow...from reading info on Google i determined my best bet was to reinstall Windows. I am trying, using my Toshiba Recovery Media discs, however, I've let it sit for hours, even overnight once and it doesn't ever complete with the reinstall!!! My disc drive does make a crunching/grinding sound after a while and I was told that it was possible that it was bad & needed replaced however I created the Recovery Media CD's with that disk drive about a week prior to attempting the reinstall so how could that be it???

Please help!!! I have 3 laptops and all 3 have a problem of some sort...I need to get at least one of them working!!!

Not sure why you're not using the reinstall discs prepared?

Usually laptops have a recovery partition. If you look at the instruction manual it should tell you how to do a factory restore using the internal recovery partition if this does not work it will tell you how to use the recovery disks. If you do not have the manual you can download it from the Toshiba web site.
