Does anyone know how to:-

A:) Stop Windows 2000 from automatically attempting to update Windows

B:) Stop Windows 2000 from reminding you with the bubble in system tray that Windows needs updating

Try control panel/admin tools/services/ and r-click to stop.

I wonder if this will stop the bubbled reminders as well?

There's an extra item in Control Panel (since SP3), called Automatic Updates. Double click that, and untick the box for "Keep my computer up to date". Click OK.
