windows 10 upgrade and data files

  baldyx 20:01 16 Aug 2015

Under Windows 8.1 & now after upgrading to Windows 10, my data files are duplicated, e.g the folder 'Documents' exist in several places eg. under 'This PC' , 'Libraries' , 'My Documents'.

These all contain the same no of files.

Do they all occupy individual disk space ?

Can I rationalise them by taking backups ,delete and recreate only in one location i.e C:\users\USER ?

Libraries and My Document are just shortcuts to your main folder on C:\drive. They are there just for your convenience but are showing the same files. Leave them as they are and ignore them if you don't want to use Libraries or My Documents shortcut. If you were to delete them, you would loose your only copy of the file.

Cetainly, back up your files - that's a very good and wise practice.
