Windows 10, Fast boot not working on HP laptop

  woodm01 20:01 21 May 2018

Since upgrading to Windows 10, the Fast Boot option refuses to work on my HP Pavilion Laptop. When it boots up with Fast Boot enabled it loads the windows screen then freshes. Only on a restart will the system boot.

Is there any way of fixing this?

sorry freezes not freshes!

Fast boot can cause all sorts of problems

best to boot up a few times without it and then switch it on to see if the problems reoccur.

Tried that, still freezing. Any ideas anyone?

  1. Press Windows + X keys and click command prompt(admin) or power shell(admin).

  2. Type the following commands in command prompt and press Enter after each command.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

reboot and see what happens

CMD as admin, type or copy and paste, powercfg.exe -h off, press enter then close CMD. Reboot.

If that doesn't work then powercfg -h off will. Again reboot.
