Is there a method of installing WIN98 program on to an existing WIN95 O.S. without using WIN98 upgrade.

economic thanks

rosethorn, if you have a Windows 98 disk, then just put it into the cd drive, and it will install. It will ask you if you want to save your Windows 95 installation. If you are getting Windows 98, then the SE version is much better.

After checking all files and the system the following message is displayed.

"Your computer already has an operating system installed. Which cannot be upgraded by this version of setup. You need to obtain the Windows 98 upgrade."

This message I have seen often hence my plea.

Thanks for your quick response.

Hi rosethorn, is this perhaps an oem version of Windows 98 that is intended only for installation on a new computer? Your other option is to reformat your hard drive and install Windows 98 onto the clean drive. If you have the disks for all your installed programs, and have backed up all your saved files, then this is a good opportunity for a fresh start.
