Win 98se- which USB driver?

  jack 14:55 04 Feb 2005

I am in the throws of sorting a P11/Win98se machine.

I have plugged in my jumbo External HDD in the hope it would recoginise it.
It recognises new hard ware but will not display the drive.
So I guess a driver is needed
There is not one with my home made ext HDD, so perchance I shall have down load something but what exactly.

In fumbling with the system it asked for the Win disk, and a Generic USB and a USB root hub and PCI -USB bridge have got thems selves installed but not enough seemingly.

I also have disk for various data card readers
Compact flash/Smart Media etc. any good?

Presumably you bought an enclosure for your external drive set up. Go to that manufacturer's website and look for Windows 98 drivers there. I did that with my Safecom enclosure and resolved problem.

Thank you greengage just the trick.
The drive came in SaroTech -makrs of the Hardbox Caddy just fine.
The only prob is I down loaded it onto my machine as the refurb has of yet no modem etc,and it came in at 1,6Mb. just too big for a floppy.
So will have make up a CD of other 98 stuff and at the drive,
Still having fun -thats whats it is all about.
