I have a very sad tale to relate- my daughter-in-law has Win. 98
bought about six years ago, she tells me that when she tries to go online, gets the homepage ok but when trying to go to a site
she gets 'can't find server'. This is with bt/yahoo dialup also
apparently, cannot shutdown normally, has to just pull the plug out.
I'm no computer whizkid but I suggested she should first of all,
defrag, please don't larf, " oh I've never been able to defrag "
I can't think what sort of state those files are in.

She doesn't want to resort to a clean reinstall because of loosing
her files, is there an over the top she could do with her installation cd. But nothing too complicated for her.

any ideas?
