win 2k password protect pc?

i have been asked to do the above, any ideas how to carry this out simply?

Think you can do this through the "users" panel in control panel. Just change it so that users have to enter a user name and password. Think there is a box in there somewhere that you tick. This means that rather than just have the pc boot up it will ask for these details before completing the boot. Is this what you mean?

that is the sort of thing i am after, the person wants to restrict family access to the pc.

Make sure that he still remembers his own password when he created his own account, or the Administrator account.

Then go to Control Panel, Users and Passwords, Users tab, tick the box "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". click OK.
